What is Mindwerx 4 Kids?

Mindwerx4kids Early Learning Center began in 2006 offering Toddler and Preschool programs for children from 18 months to 4 years.

At Mindwerx we believe that every child is unique and will grow at his or her own pace. Mindwerx is a highly focused environment where the emphasis is on understanding the distinctive characteristics of each child and providing a complimentary early learning and development program. Our planned curriculum encourages children to learn through exploration, play and inquiry.

Mindwerx programs incorporate indoor and outdoor play, as well as active play, rest and quiet time, into each day. Daily activities provide a balance of child-initiated and teacher supported learning experiences in a variety of curriculum areas, including math, literacy, cognitive development, sensory play and science. Ongoing adaptations are made to create an inclusive program, responsive to the diverse abilities and needs of each child.

Building and Construction

During circle time, the preschoolers engaged in discussions about the different types of road, building and housing construction they’ve seen in their neighborhoods. This topic was extended to a variety of learning centres in our classroom. The children used straws and connectors in our dramatic play centre to build towers and letters together. They also enjoyed playing with construction vehicles in our sand bin and exploring prints by painting with toy tools.

Science and Sensory with Ice

We provided ice trays, salt and warm water with droppers for children to experiment with melting ice. They were interested in observing how quickly the salt dissolved when they sprinkled the salt in the trays. They also discovered ways to make the ice melt faster by adding warm water at the same time. In another activity, the children used tongs to build with ice cubes that had letters frozen inside. They were excited to find the letters that are in their names.
